New Home: Patient forcibly ejected from hospital after refusing to leave for 3 yrs

A Chinese man had to be forcibly ejected from a hospital after he had chained himself for a bed and stayed for three years.

55-year-old Mr Chen was first admitted to the Beijing Jingmei Group Hospital in August 2011 to receive treatment for injuries sustained in a road traffic accident.

After being treated, Mr Chen was discharged only to return about two months later complaining of pains on his left leg.

After he was diagnosed of deep vein thrombosis, Mr. Chen was treated and was ready for discharge after three months but he refused to go home, saying he was in so much pain that he was unable to straighten out his legs.

Mr. Chen refused to leave the hospital and even missed his son’s wedding at a time.

In July 2012, the hospital stopped giving him treatment after he was unable to pay any of his medical bills.

After a series of test, Mr. Chen was declared fit and healthy but he disputed the test results, claiming to be feeling pains in his leg.

After a court ordered that 55-year-old to be removed from the hospital, police turned up at the hospital on Tuesday, February 10 to see that he had chained himself to the bed.

Officers were then forced to cut the locks and remove a visibly distressed Mr Chen, who was still dressed in his hospital-issue pyjamas, and struggling with police.

Mr. Chen was reportedly taken back to his back to his home in the Mentougou district of Beijing.
